THE AIRCRAFT

1972 Hunters were built with the majority  (952) being built at Kingston ,

Baginton -  278,

Blackpool   299,

Schipol -  255

and Gosselies - 188.  

Those Hunters built and used overseas will appear in the appropriate country under the World-Wide Section

In addition there were 574 conversions : 512 remained as single-seaters and the remainder were converted to two- seaters.

The Royal Air Force flew the following types:

F. Mk 1             Two batches - first - 113 from Kingston and second - 26 from Blackpool

F. Mk 2             One batch  of 45 from Baginton

F. Mk 4             First production batch of 85 from Kingston,

   Second production batch of 85 from Kingston,

   Third production batch of 3 from Kingston,

   Fourth batch of 20 from Blackpool,

   Fifth batch of 100 from Blackpool and

   Sixth batch of  56 from Blackpool

F. Mk 5             One production batch of 105 aircraft from Baginton

F. Mk 6             First production batch of 7 from Kingston,

   Second production batch of 100 from Kingston,

   Third batch of 110 from Kingston,

   Fourth batch of 45 from Kingston,

   Fifth batch of 21 from Kingston and

  Sixth batch of 100 from  Baginton

T. Mk 7             45 new build Two-seaters from Blackpool

   6 F.Mk 4 converted at Kingston and Blackpool

FGA Mk 9          First conversion of 40 F. Mk 6 to FGA 9 standard at Kingston in 1958,

   Second conversion of 36  F. Mk 6 by RAF and Company working party at Horsham St    Faith in 1958,

   Third conversion of 31 F. Mk 6 at Kingston in 1960 ,

Fourth conversion of 6 F. Mk 6 at Kingston in 1964,

Fifth conversion of 6 F. Mk 6 at Kingston in 1965 and the

Sixth conversion of 9 F. Mk 6 in 1965 at Kemble.

FR. Mk 10         Conversion of 33 F. Mk 6 to FR. Mk 10 in 1959
