Over the years many songs have been sung by the Squadrons that flew the Hunter. Without a record, however modest, these songs will be lost forever! Songs such as Murph Ivelaw-Chapman’s ‘Hunter 6’ to the tune ‘London Omnibus’ is just the song to join the archives!
Many of the readers and visitors to this site must know of a host of others that could be added; to add such a song and your contribution acknowledged please follow this LINK
As a young student at Tern Hill in 1961 I can remember the song sung by such worthies as Bob Sinclair, Ray Vaughan, Phil Scouller and Jack Pollard that was sung to the tune of Harry Belafonte’s ‘Oh my island in the sun’ but the words were something as follows:
‘Oh my Island in the North Sea,
Given to Me by the AOC,
All my days I will sing your praise
of your lousy weather and the GCAs’
If anyone can provide the words they will go into this space immediately!
